The Pritikin diet allows the person to eat low fat and low calorie; instead more stress is given on the intake of high-carbohydrates meals. It includes vegetables, grains, beans, high fiber grains and fruits. The intake of fat should not be more than 10% on a daily basis. The main concern of Pritikin diet is to reduce the body weight and prevent the heart diseases and cancer. The diet also encourages the person to do regular exercise and stress handled techniques. Besides advantages, the Pritikin diet plan theory includes some disadvantages also.

Many health care providers and nutrition professionals are agreed with this Pritikin plan that includes plant based and high fiber methods. But they find that the intake of fat up to 10% is extremely low. Dietary fats provide the necessary fatty acids and soluble vitamins like A, D, E, K. these vitamins are extremely important for balanced cell functioning. They say that this low fat consumption will not enable the person to grow properly. This Pritikin diet is not suitable for everyone. There are majority of people who regularly eat the outside food, for them it is impossible to work over the Pritikin diet. Sometimes, low fat diet cannot satisfy the urge of a person’s appetite.

Before procuring the Pritikin diet plan, it is important to take an advice from the health care provider so that you encounter good results instead of bad effects.
